Names of God recordings

I created some recordings of the names of God from premium artificial intelligence computer voices. I added “qualifiers” which I think are crucial for my own recovery. I am posting these recordings here, in the hope that someone else might find them as useful as I have.

Listening to these recordings helps me settle down quite a bit when I am overwhelmed by people and life. If I am obsessing or ruminating about some problem, I listen to this and usually it puts some positive perspective to the problem in question. I usually don’t listen to it for more than 20 or 30 minutes at a time, and combine it with listening to music on another device or player.

Because the files were too big to upload to this website, the full set are only available through download. I have posted a couple of sample files of what they are like. The recording below is a sample of the names of God.

The “qualifiers”

In the recordings above, I repeated each of these qualifiers 3 times, with one of the names of God.

The following comes from the 12 step Anonymous programs (Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Overeaters Anonymous, Emotions Anonymous, etc):

  • Let go and let God – this is a slogan, meaning to let God take care of whatever you can’t take care of yourself (your addiction, other people, life, etc)
  • By the grace of God – another slogan.
  • God can restore me to sanity – this comes from step 2.
  • I turn my will and my life over to the care of God as I understand him – this comes from step 3.

The following “qualifiers” are found throughout the Baha’i writings and prayers:

  • I trust God
  • I cling to God
  • I submit to the will of God
  • I am content with the will of God
  • I fear God

Submission to God:

The essence of understanding is to testify to one’s poverty, and submit to the Will of the Lord, the Sovereign, the Gracious, the All-Powerful. (Baha’u’llah, Tablets of Baha’u’llah, p. 152)

THE source of all good is trust in God, submission unto His command, and contentment with His holy will and pleasure. (Baha’u’llah, Tablets of Baha’u’llah, p. 153)

We knew not, however, that the mesh of divine destiny exceedeth the vastest of mortal conceptions, and the dart of His decree transcendeth the boldest of human designs. None can escape the snares He setteth, and no soul can find release except through submission to His will. (Baha’u’llah, The Kitab-i-Iqan, p. 250)

O Son of Man! Wert thou to speed through the immensity of space and traverse the expanse of heaven, yet thou wouldst find no rest save in submission to Our command and humbleness before Our Face. (Baha’u’llah, Arabic Hidden Words, #40)

That which beseemeth man is submission unto such restraints as will protect him from his own ignorance, and guard him against the harm of the mischief-maker. (Baha’u’llah, Gleanings from the Writings of Baha’u’llah, p. 335)

Trust in God

Concerning the means of livelihood, thou shouldst, while placing thy whole trust in God, engage in some occupation. He will assuredly send down upon thee from the heaven of His favour that which is destined for thee. (Baha’u’llah, Tablets of Baha’u’llah, p. 266)

Put your whole trust and confidence in God, Who hath created you, and seek ye His help in all your affairs. (Baha’u’llah, Gleanings, p. 252)

He that giveth up himself wholly to God, God shall, assuredly, be with him; and he that placeth his complete trust in God, God shall, verily, protect him from whatsoever may harm him, and shield him from the wickedness of every evil plotter. (Baha’u’llah, Gleanings from the Writings of Baha’u’llah, p. 233)

If the heart turns away from the blessings God offers how can it hope for happiness? If it does not put its hope and trust in God’s Mercy, where can it find rest? (Abdu’l-Baha, Paris Talks, p. 108)

Never lose thy trust in God. Be thou ever hopeful, for the bounties of God never cease to flow upon man. (Selections of the Writings of Abdu’l-Baha, #178)

Fear of God

Whoso hath known God shall know none but Him, and he that feareth God shall be afraid of no one except Him, though the powers of the whole earth rise up and be arrayed against him.’Gleanings, chapter 66.

That which guardeth and restraineth man both outwardly and inwardly hath been and still is the fear of God. It is man’s true protector and his spiritual guardian. (Tablets of Baha’u’llah, LAWH-I-DUNYA)

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. (Bible. Matthew 10:28)

In truth, religion is a radiant light and an impregnable stronghold for the protection and welfare of the peoples of the world, for the fear of God impelleth man to hold fast to that which is good, and shun all evil. Should the lamp of religion be obscured, chaos and confusion will ensue, and the lights of fairness and justice, of tranquillity and peace cease to shine. (Tablets Baha’u’llah, Ishraqat (Splendours))

Cling to God

Let them cling to the hem of Almighty God, and put their faith in the Beauty of the Most High; let them lean on the unfailing help that cometh from the Ancient Kingdom, and depend on the care and protection of the generous Lord. (Abdu’l-Baha, Selections from the Writings of Abdu’l-Baha, p. 9)

O servant of God! rejoice through the glad-tidings of God, be happy by the wafting of the fragrance of God, and cling to the Kingdom of God in such wise that it makes thee separate thyself from the world and kindle in thy heart the fire of the love of God to such an extent that any one who approaches thee will feel its warmth; and if thou desirest to attain to this station, thou shouldst turn thyself wholly unto God. (Abdu’l-Baha, Tablets of Abdu’l-Baha v1, p. 113)

Cast away the things ye possess, and cling to that which God hath bidden you observe. (Baha’u’llah, Gleanings from the Writings of Baha’u’llah, chapter 116)

Cling thou to the hem of the Robe of God, and take thou firm hold on His Cord, a Cord which none can sever. (Baha’u’llah, Gleanings from the Writings of Baha’u’llah, p. 307)

Thou seest me then, O my God, with my face turned towards Thee, cleaving steadfastly to the cord of Thy gracious providence and generosity, and clinging to the hem of Thy tender mercies and bountiful favors. (Baha’u’llah, Prayers and Meditations by Baha’u’llah, p. 80)

True reliance is for the servant to pursue his profession and calling in this world, to hold fast unto the Lord, to seek naught but His grace, inasmuch as in His Hands is the destiny of all His servants. (Baha’u’llah, Tablets of Baha’u’llah)

Contentment

Whatsoever instilleth assurance into the hearts of men, whatsoever exalteth their station or promoteth their contentment, is acceptable in the sight of God. (Gleanings, Chapter 101)

The source of all glory is acceptance of whatsoever the Lord hath bestowed, and contentment with that which God hath ordained. (Baha’u’llah, Tablets of Baha’u’llah, Words of Wisdom)

THE source of all good is trust in God, submission unto His command, and contentment with His holy will and pleasure. (Baha’u’llah, Tablets of Baha’u’llah, Words of Wisdom)

Ask not of Me that which We desire not for thee, then be content with what We have ordained for thy sake, for this is that which profiteth thee, if therewith thou dost content thyself. Arabic hidden words, (Baha’u’llah, Arabic Hidden Words, #18)

Know thou, that I have wafted unto thee all the fragrances of holiness, have fully revealed to thee My word, have perfected through thee My bounty and have desired for thee that which I have desired for My Self. Be then content with My pleasure and thankful unto Me. (Baha’u’llah, The Arabic Hidden Words, #70)
